this is lovely, full grain character in here and patient old world lager vibes, but lighter and easier even than their already very approachable marzen, less of the richess and toast properties, drier, and with a bit less body, yet still with plenty of personality, they havent stripped it down for the sake of being a pounder, this retains everything i want in a fall seasonal. brassy colored and clear with some shine and well over an inch of airy white head from the tap, looks just right. there is a lot of carbonation to this, frothy and sudsy and active. aroma of baked biscuit, light honey malt, a vienna type note, and good water chemistry and minerality, a little doughy aspect to the obviously german lager yeast, clean and simple without being boring in any way. the flavor follows, faint almond nuttiness up front, a touch of mid palate sweetness, a baked and crackery back end, dry on the swallow, with slate minerality and a still proofing bread dough thing, deeply earthy and authentic. satisfying and just a little hearty on the mouthfeel, awesome carbonation, this thing was built for morning drinking, salty food, and autumn patio drinking, really impressive specimen from the quality side, prost seems to have really upped their game of late. always been a fan, but their beers are markedly better recently. this is delicious and repeatable.
