Man had this beer over a year ago. Still just updated to the database today, but I'm not a sociopath so I'll review the beer also. Sometimes it is listed as 5%, sometimes 6.5%. Tasted like 5% to me.
Pours a darker color for a pale ale, this one comes in looking like barleywine (caramel colored). Off white head, 1/3" deep. Aroma of light hops and malty caramel like note, but different than say SNPA's maltiness. Its like, dustier if that makes any sense. The hoppiness was more than expected from a notoriously below average hoppy beer maker. Rare canning dates and hop info will do that.
Taste imparted less malty caramel and toffee notes than expected, a light C hop impression with its light bitterness and grapefruit rind. There was a light flash of something like passion fruit here, not sure what hop variety they could have used, or even yeast to put that note there. Decent stuff that shows BC is moving in a better direction.
Taste was do-able. The appearance of barley heftiness was overstated, this drinks lighter than it looks.
