Grapefruit Pale Ale

a balanced and easy drinking but still assertive and flavorful american pale here, not sure if there is actually grapefruit in it or not, or if they just call it that because of the hops presenting that way, its unclear, but it sure does smell and taste like pink grapefruit to me. some color on this, light copper, darn near clear but not quite shiny, an inch of lasting white head caps it, good carbonation visible. aroma here is a simcoe type northwestern complexion, fleshy grapefruit freshness and some pine or even gin, definite pithy bitterness too and some balancing crystal malt, clean on the yeast side, simplicity working well, i do get fresh citrus for sure. the flavor is balanced and good, citrus all through it, there has to be actual grapefruit in this right? an up front flash of sweet, some acidity and more pith type bitterness late, lighter in body than it tastes or looks so the citrus aspect pops in this, especially on the finish, and its well bitter and lingering in that way without being oily, green, or even exceedingly hoppy in the traditional sense. frothy and airy feeling, lively, fresh and punchy, real drinkable, and great with salty food. i like the beers in here better than the overall experience and vibe, this pale ale is an all day every day type of beer, well done.
