Copenhagen 20/6 2016. 33 cl bottle from Meny, Østerfælled Torv, Kbh. Ø. A lot of medieval letters and a shield to convey the impression that this is indeed an old Gambrinus Beer. I notice that they call this a "Light" beer. A bit underwhelming for a beer with a ABV of 9,6.

Pours clear yellow with a bubbly white head which disappears right after pouring. A lot of carbonation going on. No lacing.

Aroma of sweet malts and a strong whiff of alcohol. Fermented fruit and sweet caramel.

Medium strong carbonation and a thick palate. Lightly tingling texture.

Flavor is overly sweet and quite boozy. Sweet and slightly metallic aftertaste.

If this is the light version I do not care to taste the heavy one.

2002: 330 ml bottle,in Denmark. Good initial aroma, head disappears quickly. Alcoholic, some bitterness. The Dark is better!

Poured to a light head. Very golden and clear. First sip was nice. Trying to figure out the actual style. I was close to a Trip, but didn't have the finish of a Trip. Maybe this is a strong golden ale.

The alcohol is high, but there it is very subtle when drinking. At less than $2 a bottle, I would drink it regularly.
