I don't want to bash this beer, because it's clear from the reviews that many like it. It's just not my, er, mug of beer. Tried at the airport Fat Bottom bar in Nashville TN on tap, so clearly there was nothing wrong with the beer. Color, smell, feel were all pretty decent. The problem is those godawful hops. The beer was described to me as a "double IPA" but now I see it's actually an "American IPA" which clarifies some of my confusion upon tasting. I went in expecting big hops AND big malt. Instead I got a total hop bomb, and not even a good one. Rather than assertive piney and/or citrus hops, I got a kind of unholy marriage of something like bergamot essential oils and pine sol. It just was not very tasty. Maybe you will enjoy it, but I will absolutely avoid it in the future.

 

Run of the mill old school IPA. Bitter bitter bitter
