mixed culture brett beer with fruit, but i do have some confusion here. i have seen reports of prickly pear and cherry together, which makes sense when i drink this, but this also might be a series of different fruits, as i am almost sure i taste passion fruit in here. it could be a thing between the pear and the lacto, but for me, its obvious passion fruit. either way, its nice. a pretty curious mix of fruit but it gives this a fruit salad complexion with depth and nuance well beyond just two fruits. its neat beer, lightly tart and plenty funky, not overly mature or anything on the brett, still tastes newish to me, and might benefit from some extended bottle ageing, but the aroma of funk is nice, wet and musty, farmy and rustic, on its way to greatness. the fruit is cool, a light perfume thing from the prickly pear, if thats what it is, notes of melon and kiwi fruit and orange peel too, and then a light medicinal cherry with some sweetness to it and some finishing tang, hints of raspberry and cranberry too, clean and fresh tasting, not overly fruited and well layered. subtle white pepper and clove spice notes here in the fermentation profile too which makes this just fine for autumn. its got nice carbonation as well, and feels as alive as it tastes. i enjoyed this, found it relatively unique in an increasingly crowded category, and am yet again impressed by a fat bottom beer. i am going to have to start trading for this stuff!
