Flip-top half litre brown bottle, best before 24th April 2008, drank on a wet and windy 31st Jan 2008.
Poured into a straight sided Berliner Kindl half litre glass.
Amber in colour, clear and very carbonated, bubbles rising swiftly up to the large white foaming head, it looks good to me.
Hoppy and yeasty, a lot more aroma than your normal lager/pilsners, they obviously made the stuff with better ingrediants in 1689 than the German producers of today.
The flavours are stronger too, no weak girlie tasteless blond feel, this has some umph, its colour aroma and the 5.2% ensure it is a different beast to the breweries standard pilsner (which I also like). This is bitter and unlike any mass produced German pilsner, in short, it has taste.
Thicker and more wholesome, this is a truely fine beer and one I will seek it out when in the area of the Mosel and Koblenz.
