Poured into a Chuckanut pint glass. Pours a light to medium straw amber with a modest white head that dissipates to a thin film and ring around the glass. Mild aroma of sweet malt, faint rye, cooked generic squash, light cinnamon and clove. Flavor is rye and biscuit malt, light pumpkin and a light spicing of pumpkin pie spices. Light to medium bodied, but with a pleasant mouth feel from carbonation. Very nicely balanced rye, malt, pumpkin and spices. I prefer pumpkin beer with distinct cooked pumpkin presence (like the Great Pumpkin from Elysian) and generally don't enjoy lighter versions. This, however, is a light pumpkin ale (apparently brewed over pumpkin seeds rather than pumpkin meat) that is so well integrated and tasty that is won me over completely. This is really nice. The pumpkin is here, but not strong, nice rye flavor and mild sourness and a very light touch of spices. Excellent and another winner after a summer of very good rye beers from Reuben's. I can't wait for their new line up of bottles coming this month.
