22 oz bottle from Jeremy. Dark amber pour, small bubbly head. Sweet malty aroma, lots of whiskey barrel, maple. Taste brings in some brown sugar, more sweet malt. Warms up fast, with a bit of heat going down. Pretty damn tasty

Properly cellared one year old bottle. Poured into a Reuben's Brew small snifter. Pours a very dark orange brown with a quarter finger, off-white head that dissipates to patches with good lacing. Aroma of biscuit and little caramel malt, bourbon, raisins. Flavor is dry caramel and biscuit malt, raisins, plums, bourbon, a hint of cherry; hot finish. Medium bodied with light creaminess. More fruit and caramel than I'd expect from an old ale, perhaps from the bourbon being so forward. Kind of a cross between a barleywine and old ale. That's a combination I can live with. There is a distinct, but light tart cherry, fresh dark fruit note that would make me hesitate aging this one much more, although it is fine now. I'm curious about how this tasted on bottling (a little more biscuity?) and will try it fresh next time around. Idiosyncratic, but good. They had me at the bourbon.
