Picked up a bomber at the tasting room. Tasted 9 March 2016.
Pours a mostly clear golden yellow. A little white head, okay retention, some lacing.
The smell is unlike any beer I've encountered, and I really like it. The lemony sour notes meld with the citrusy hop aromatics, yielding a rich and varied, yet light and refreshing sense, with it all backed up by the wheat base. Wow.
Taste is tasty tasty berliner. Enough grains to provide a solid base, and that crisp tartness I look for. Has a faint bitter twang in the finish, kinda lemony, making me wonder if it's hops or lacto bringing it. Yummy stuff.
Feel is top-notch as well. Light and crisp, buoyed up by the yeast, and with lingering tartness.
This is an outstanding beer, one of the best I've had from Reuben's (and I really like most of their beers I've had). The citrusy hops are a clever and perfectly-suited addition to a berliner, and they make for a unique, delicious beer.
