Growler picked up from the brewery yesterday. Tasted 8 April 2016.
Pours deep brown with a hint of red. Clear, but dark, see-through with the light behind it. One finger of off-white head, okay retention and lacing.
Smell is rich, earthy, with a peaty snap and some background sweetness. Really well balanced. Nice.
Taste is more simplistic, less potent, but still good. A little sharp, like bitter earth. Varied, energetic.
Feel is just as it should be. Medium-bodied, leaning heavy, with persistent low-level carbonation to stir.
I'm amazed by the ability of Reuben's to make a good version of pretty much any style they like. This one is no exception. Tasty stuff.
