a really dense looking hazy ipa here, a total contrast to the loral brut i had right before this. its full of sediment and looks really unrefined, not holding much of a head either. the nose is nice though, purple grape candy, honey, weed resin, and a little green bite, along with a tropical juicy papaya and mango thing, intense but distinct. the grain doesnt have a lot of aroma or flavor for how beefy it looks and feels, pretty dry, some simple cereals to it, but nothing of any real consequence in terms of taste. the hops really crank in here though, more grape candy, over ripe melon, orange and lime essences, juicy ripe guava and papaya, and some sort of sappy or resinous element that drives it all to the center of the tongue. long lasting hoppiness on the finish, not quite as green as it smells, and overall this has a really unique hop profile, id love to know what varietals are in the mix here, its very good. i just wish the base was cleaned up a bit, not quite so heavy, more carbonated, and just a little mellower overall, but i like the fruit forward nature of the hops and the aftertaste is really good too. these guys exceeded my expectations when we visited their brewery! did not know they were doing such ambitious beers.
