A modern take on a classic style. By combining notes of dark caramel, cherry, and light chocolate with a low level of bitterness and a clean finish, this beer has a sly level of drinkability that encourages repeat visits. Inspired in part by our brewmaster's favorite German Altbier.

Pours a crystal clear bright coppery color with plenty of foam in the chalice. Malt and alfalfa aroma. Light body with plenty of suds on the tongue. Just slightly sweet to start with a pleasant caramel taste, and balanced by a rush of hops. Tangy and refreshing. Flavors of malt, a hint of cookie dough, and a modest resiny finish. IBUs are listed at 47, but it's not overly bitter, and more flavorful that many others in this category. This is an extremely good Red Ale that makes a pleasing change from the parade of IPAs. From the 12 oz can purchased at the local Co-op market. Dated 02/03/23.
