A collaboration with Portland's Ecliptic Brewing, Cold Frame is our take on the crisp, crushable, and golden-hued beer that originated in Köln, Germany. Given our mutual love of easy-drinking lagers and hop-forward ales, we decided a Kölsch hopped with the fruity, floral McKenzie variety would be the perfect way to satisfy both appetites.

Found at New Seasons market in Vancouver. Pour is a clear, unfiltered light golden amber. Frothy head subsides to a skim coat. Aroma is a faint yeasty one, with a bit of floral notes. Taste is very German-style, with a prominent role for the hops backed up with a strong support from the malts. Medium dry, with a pleasant mineral after taste. Very refreshing. We could easy enjoy this beer sitting in the shade at the biergarten with a plate of cold cuts, cheese, crusty bread and German mustard.
