Bourbon Barrel-Aged Imperial Stout with Peanut Butter and Vanilla Added
After aging this Imperial Stout In a blend of bourbon barrels we added powdered peanut butter and a touch of vanilla to create a beer with notes of bittersweet chocolate, salty sweet peanuts, and dark molasses.

Poured into a Reuben's Brew small snifter. Pours a very dark mahogany brown, appearing nearly opaque in the glass with a quarter finger chocolate head that dissipates to patches with slight lacing. Aroma of dark toasted malt, peanut butter, mild bourbon and bakers chocolate. Flavor is dark toasted malt, bourbon, peanut butter, dark molasses and light bakers chocolate with a hint of caramel. Medium bodied with moderate creaminess; moderate carbonation. A nice bourbon barreled stout with somewhat subdued peanut butter and pleasant chocolate character. The BBIS base malt checks all the boxes for an excellent barreled stout. The adjuncts are lightly handled, with the vanilla not really detectable under the bourbon, but the light peanut butter melds nicely with the other flavors. Carbonation is a bit low, but still produced a brief, attractive dark head. Well done and enjoyable.
