Had this last summer in Reno. A year later, I'm the first to add this beer to the Next Glass database that is this place.
Pours light and golden, very good clarity. 1/2" white head. Nelson aroma delivers, notes of armpit weed diesel gooseberry. It hits them and pretty hard.
The taste is a great showcase for the Nelson hop. Nothing really gets in the way. Minimal grain bill, standard if you will. The dankness of the Nelson hop and the crispness of a pale ale slim fitting body form a nice little juxtaposition that only lets the beer shine even more. I really dig the idea of making solo hop beers that are very minimalistic and sessiony.
Sure lots of people don't like the Nelson hop, and this beer will help you decide if you do or don't. I like all the garlic, onion, dank, humid, diesel lot kind of vibes it gives. Easily my favorite beer from this brewery. Sometimes its when you try to be the nicer person its taken as a sign of weakness and you end up suffering a bit, but its usually better to take the higher road.
