Brewed and dry hopped with Nelson Sauvin and Sorachi Ace hops.
MechaKiwi is the signature Double IPA from Hourglass Brewery. With huge hop notes of tropical fruit, berries, white wine, and lemon built on a smooth malt foundation, this brew goes down so easy it is scary. We ferment this beer with a distinct ale yeast that leaves the beer cloudy, but accents the unique flavors of the Japanese and New Zealand hops.

the combination of what i think are my two favorite hops! i was stoked to get to try this beer, its a fine blend of these two, but maybe a shade less juicy and vibrant and intensely awesome than i hoped it would be, and i will be left to wonder what these hops together would be like in a beer that was objectively a bit better. that said, the beer is pretty darn good and its hard to complain to much, as i think both of these hops are equally on display and even in here. its a few shades darker than i thought it would be, but its not particularly malty as they go, and the aroma on this is bursting with the lemon curd and dill oiliness of sorachi ace and the white wine fruitiness of the nelson, with tangerine, apricot, green apple, and kumquat elements as well, quite prominently dry hopped i would think, but the flavor holds up to the nose. this has some serious herbaceousness, the alcohol is pretty well hidden, and it tastes good and fresh, but i think its quite a bit less refined and professional than the saison du sablier i had in the same session, which i thought was incredible. still, this is a nice double ipa, unique, if just for the combination of hops...

Enjoyed on-tap at the new brewery and room in Longwood, FL. The brewery classifies this as a Pacific IPA because of the hops used. There is also some woody notes in this giving a nice unique character. Overall, a good IPA.
