Palate Contaminants: other beer
The look is an opaque moderately tannish brown. Not much head, and what's there is fairly coarse.
The main smells are honey and pecan syrup, but they're oddly not particularly sweet. There's a bit of butter in there, too. Maybe if I had beer with pancakes... But overall it's more sour than it should be.
The taste is more butter pecan than even in the nose. There's a lot of black licorice taste up front, and I don't much like black licorice, but it's by no means foul. Then there's some odd hint of citrus on the back end, along with the advertised apple brandy. That latter one shows up more as it warms. The sum of the parts is greater than the whole.
Medium weight with fine carbonation. Not much alcohol for a tenner. Aftertaste is apples and bourbon.
