A: Pours black with a mocha ring of head.
S: Coconut and a touch of roasted malt in the nose. Certainly smells more like a coconut stout than a coconut porter.
T: Coconut, roasted malt, chocolate and coffee. Again not really a robust roasty porter. Roastiness is light. Not very bitter
M: Medium bodied, not quite smooth.
O: The combination of chocolate, coffee and coconut is delicious. It could have been done better, but I liked it and would recommend it.

Nearly black in color with a tan colored head. I don't really get any coconut out of this. Decently roasty with some notes of chocolate and maybe a hint of coffee. As with the aroma, no real coconut presence on the palate, either. Roasted malt and cocoa are there, but that's about it. A mild sweetness to the beer, mostly toffee.

On tap at the Rose & Crown.
A: Pours pitch black with a half-finger of cream-colored head. Retention is moderate; it vanishes into a collar around the brew, which doesn't leave any lacing down the sides.
S: Coconut -- strongly so, like they're making a point -- roasted malt, chocolate, espresso. Nicely pungent.
T: Starts off with shaved coconut and roasted malt. The light bitterness segues easily into an espresso flavor, backed lightly by hints of caramel. Near the finish there is a big dose of chocolate, and coconut again, which pulls into the finish. Very flavorful.
M: Smooth and creamy. Medium-full body. Coats the mouth well; I could see this being a problem in larger quantities. It could benefit from higher carbonation or less coating, IMO.
D: For a guy who doesn't really seek out porters, I was pleasantly surprised by this one. I'd seek it out again in the future. With some improvements, I think this could be an outstanding beer.

A - Black in color with no head. Appears somewhat viscous for a porter.
S - Nice aroma of coconut, roast, and caramel. Smells fairly sweet.
T - Roasted and caramel malt, coffee, chocolate, and loads of coconut. The coconut is a bit intense, but overall the flavor is not bad.
M - Smooth and slick with almost no carbonation. The mouthfeel is fairly similar to Lost Abbey Angels Share 2009, except not as viscous and boozy.
D - Less than average. Coconut becomes a little overwhelming and the carbonation is a bit low.
