from a 4-pack picked up at the Carson, WA general store during spring break; collab with grains of wrath; canned 2-8-21
vessel: sisu ipa glass
p- black; sm tan head; fairly quick recession
n- med; sweet roast and coffee
t- dang, this is good; sweet nutty notes, roast, choc, and coffee combine for a rich and delicious profile; so smooth and cohesive
mf- silky/creamy; med-full bodied; soft-med carb; satisfying; notable
o- well done; so noteworthy, I set one aside for my BIL to try; quite the pleasant surprise, really; one of the best stouts I've had in recent memory!

Poured into a Fremont small snifter. Pours a very dark mahogany brown, appearing nearly opaque black in the glass with a two finger dark khaki head with great retention and nice thick lacing. Aroma of dark toasted malt, coffee, cocoa and nuts. Flavor is dark toasted malt, cocoa, mixed nuts and mild coffee. Nutty cocoa finish. Medium bodied with light to moderate creaminess. A fine nut stout with a profile like a nut brown porter with a bit more malt body. There are apparently a mixture of nuts used, but the result is pretty much mixed, with maybe hazelnuts being the one fairly distinct flavor. A solid stout body that leans to porter and export stout meshes well with the nut flavors. A little cocoa and coffee finishes things off. Flavorful and satisfying; nicely done. I'm going to pick up another one of these.
