Claremont IPA is the reincarnation of our original West Coast IPA "Single Dude". It's clean and crisp from the simple all-pilsner malt bill, and it's exploding with grapefruit and tropical notes from the Citra and Ekuanot hops. After years of refinement, this IPA finally deserves to share its name with the brewery.

First off, I just want to say that my local beer clerk sold me hard on this one - pretty much saying that it was a Behati Prinsloo class IPA.
So is it?
The beer poured a pretty clear straw hue - but unlike the yellow brick road, it was not paved with gold. Aroma is non existent like calling your baby mama during the Bachelor finale - not good. Taste is rather suspect. No tropical or citrus fruits at all. All there really is is an ok-ish sharp bitterness. I don’t think it tastes bad, but I still don’t really like it.
Average to blah.
Peace!

The beer is a nice pale golden color with not much of a head and lots of carbonation. Nothing to special to the nose or taste. There is a lingering bitter taste on the tongue.

This was the second beer of the day for Steph at the Bistro's 22nd annual ipa festival on April 13, 2019. Came in a light yellow appearance with west coast levels of clarity. Small 1/6" white head. Citra hops seemed to be the dry hopping here. Conventional and well placed in this day and age.
Taste, well the appearance was circumstantial evidence, but now in the taste and mouthfeel, I can confirm this falls into the undercarbed, needs more carb territory. The taste was still good, but the carbonation was more akin to an old barleywine or pastry stout. Sure, it made the bitterness lower and body softer, but at a negative cost overall.
The commercial tug job on their website for a single ipa does list citra, but it gives an abv of 6.7% instead of the 6.5% listed at the festival. Then their "dude" ipa actually seems like a better fit, citra and 6.5% but that certainly isn't the name they provided for their ipa at the festival. Who knows. Most beers these days go through 40 slight variations anyways. Gotta tick em all. Good beer, lacking carb.
