Yola is a contradiction. Sweet yet assertive. This imperial amber is a bottled-conditioned artisan ale able to be enjoyed at 45 degrees with or without sediment. Unfiltered, bottled-conditioned, Real Ale.

Poured from a brown 750 mL bottle into a large tulip glass. Bottle had a batch number, but I can't remember it now. Was bottled within the last couple months though.
A - Pours a tawny amber-brown with a half-finger of effervescent reddish-tan head. Dissipates after 30 seconds or so and leaves almost no lacing.
S - Complexity and depth of aroma. Notes of cinnamon-apple and faints hints of tartness and vinegar.
T - Holy crap that's good. So many distinct flavors going on--nutmeg, apple cider vinegar, cinnamon, Granny Smith on a base of underlying tartness. Enough to wake your palate but far from mouth-puckering. So drinkable and enticing. Balance is the name of the game.
Mouthfeel - Prickly carbonation but not overpowering. Medium-to-light body.
Overall an inspiring sour ale. An "imperial amber" with Brett and lacto, I'm blown away by how fantastic this beer is. I could see it being appreciated by both sour newbies and veterans because it's not overpoweringly sour, but there's a complexity and depth of flavor going on.

Poured from 750ml bottle into Globe glass. Bottle says Batch #1, Bottle # 106. Imperial Amber Ale. "Yola is a contradiction. Sweet yet assertive. This imperial amber is a bottled-conditioned artisan ale able to be enjoyed at 45 degrees with or without sediment. Unfiltered, bottled-conditioned, Real Ale."
A. Poured a very well carbonated 4 finger head. Bottle started foaming out immeadiately after the cap was popped. Pretty thick lacing. Good retention. Color is not surprising a dark amber brown.
S. Smells pretty yeasty, and earthy. Get some spiciness, and a little bit of caramel malt lying beneath. Not an overwhelming aroma. Smells fairly dry. No alcohol trace, until it warms up, and then it is somewhat pronounced.
T. Taste is primarily a dry biscuity malt flavor. Get some yeast flavors as well. Just a touch of sweetness on the back of the tongue. Pretty dry. Again the taste is not very intense. Gives off an earthy quality.
M. Medium bodied. Heavy carbonation. Drinks dry, and has just a touch of lingering sweetness.
O. I have to admit I wasn't that impressed. Granted this isnt my style or my particular cup of tea. For me, I was trying to figure out what this beer was about. It was very dry, and not overly flavorful. Kept waiting for more, but it was never really there. Website says this beer is sweet yet assertive. My bottle was not sweet at all.
