from the bottle. poured a cloudy golden color with a big off white head. aroma sweet dough, malts,fruity, hops. flavor, 1st impression was yew but after I let the beer sit in my mouth I thought ok this isn’t that bad got some strange sweetness a combo of sugar and fruits followed by tartness. this isn’t like any marzen I have had. It did go down easy. but did not wow me

Not an oustanding marzen. There was an overwhelming sourness at the end of each drink. I enjoy marzens, mostly because I enjoy the full malty taste of some of the better ones. This beer is malty, but also tastes sour. The second bottle was better at a slightly warmer serving temperature.

Twelve ounce brown bottle. No dates. Label clearly states "unfiltered lager beer."

Medium amber in colour. Intense lines of thin carbonation. Frothy off white head that will not quit.

A hoppy earthiness fills the nose & invites a sip.

Sweet, bready malt flavour with just a touch of caramel. Hop notes of lemon pith predominate & bring on a dry finish. Medium body, robust carbonation. Clean & straightforward.

Slightly hazy deep gold body with a short white head that didn't last long enough. Fruit and bread in aroma. Cider flavors with a little malt and bitterness. Medium body and carbonation.

I was disappointed by this beer. I have to believe this sixer was just off, but I don't think this was a storage issue. It was a most likely a problem in the bottling stage. I won't write off the brewery as a whole, but I do think this worth noting.

A solid 'Fest beer. Pours out to an amber color in the glass. Aroma is that of caramel, cotton candy (strange, but true) and malt. Very nice balance in this one, with a solid malt base shining through. Not as "heavy" as one might expect but this lends to its very good drinkability. Delicious. Easily a session 'Fest beer. Leopold knows lagers.

Hazy amber with an orange cast. The foamy white head dissipates quickly into just a limited collar. The aroma is fruity with an earthy malt, some sulphur (acceptable lager levels), and a mild phenolic - not good, but not off-putting either. The body is medium with a mild carbonation that leaves it nicely creamy. The flavor is of a fruity and toasty malt that's semi-sweet with a lightly peppery character and a gentle balancing bitterness. It finishes dry with some phenolic character. An interesting beer that's somewhat enjoyable but seems to be suffering from some minor flaws. I'll give it another shot next year to see if this is just a bad batch - or even just a bad bottle.
