Tried this one on a whim during a recent visit. Was pleasantly surprised. It poured a very dark color, with a pretty decent sized tannish head. Lacing was pretty minimal. Smell was sweet, with malty tones. A bit of caramel was also present on the nose. Taste was well done. Sweet, roasted malt. Nice balance as well. A bit light in the mouth, with normal carbonation. Overall, this is a nice beer. Pleasant, if not terribly bold. Smooth going down and highly enjoyable to sip. A nice effort by Leopold's.

I think this is definitely one of Leopold Brothers' better beers. A jet black lager with an offwhite head that lasts considerably long for a lager. You definitely expect a fuller-bodied beer from the color of the beer which is, as the lager-loving owner (a great man, quite nice) lamented, pretty common since most people think "stout" when they think "jet black." But keeping in mind that it *is* a lager, it's got a real nice, medium-bodied feel with a real easy-to-drink character about it. This is a beer that your average macro-lover could conceivably pound down if he could get over the color. Super easy to drink. Definitely a very, very light roasted flavor, but primarily this beer is just a smooth, malty brew. Very nice.

Everytime I drink a beer from this brewery, I think of the Bug's Bunny cartoon, where the orchestra is playing and everyone yell's "Leopold! Leopold!", but I digress...

This beer pours out to a stout-like color in the glass with a nearly non-existent head. Light aroma of malt. Taste is slightly sweet and a bit thin, but makes up for in drinkability. A very easy to drink beer.
