I was pretty impressed with this when I tried it at the Fairport Canal Days festival recently. A nice dark golden color and a smooth cool taste; it reminded me a bit of Sierra Nevada Torpedo. Quite enjoyable, though I may want to give it another try some time to solidify my opinion.

A creamy, bright white head leaves rings and spots of lace on a Spiegelau IIPA pint glass, while streaming carbonation punctuates a clear, copper-amber beer.
The aroma is fairly one-note with big orange and light pine.
Heavy bitterness of pine and grapefruit is out of balance with light malt and no yeast characteristics. The finish is long with building bitterness.
Medium body with satin texture and lively carbonation. A dry coating is left on the palate.
Apollo 8 would make for a fine lunch beer with friends on a warm summer afternoon.

I understand they're a new brewery, but this was no Imperial IPA. Not in the nose, flavor, or feel. Piny with a little sweetness. No depth. Medium-light mouthfeel. Medium carbination. Also, coming in below 9% makes it the lightest imperial IPA I think I've had. Hopefully to be improved upon in later brews!

On tap at Fairport Brewing Company in Fairport, NY.
Pours an golden amber color, with a one inch head, and good lacing down the glass, lots of it.
Smells like pungent pine and some caramel malt sweetness.
The taste is pretty similar. A big one dimensional hop attack of pine, spicy and fragrant, followed by some malt sweetness. This one's a bit boozy, the alcohol kind of shows.
Medium bodied, crisp mouthfeel, present alcohol makes it a sipper. Low carbonation.
Probably the best beer from this so-so new brewery.
