"Our autumn seasonal is an English style Nut Brown Ale. These beers tend to emphasize the malt flavors and have a lower than average alcohol content. Our version is crisp, with lots of caramel, nutty, and chocolate flavors. The finish is crisp, with just enough European Hops to balance the malt. The Brown is only about 4.4% alcohol by volume, so it is a smooth
drinking ale for the beginning of autumn."

It would seem that Alameda has suffered a recent retreat from its sanitation standards and that several of their seasonal offerings are the worse for it. Brickhouse has the smell and the taste of a red ale and its stormy brown body has a tawny hue. A slight intrusion of phenols gives pause to the flavor but doesn’t overwhelm. And yet it’s easy to see which direction this beer is headed, and the prospects aren’t good. The lace and head never materialize and the apparent infection is a turnoff.
