On tap at 8.12.2010 at Alameda Brewhouse PDX, $3.25 for 12 oz. glass.
One finger light tan head, medium dissipation with some lacing. Dark brown almost black body, no visible carbonation. Nose is mainly roasted malts, not overpowering, a fair bit of sweetness, and tropical fruits which became more prominent as the beer warmed. Taste is huge hop hit, resiny, significant hoppiness, really bitter (yummy), some sweet malts for balance in the middle but the hops are the star. The use of Zeus hops in the batch provided a pepper, resiny hop bite on the back end. Medium full mouthfeel, not a lot of effervescence. IMHO this is the most hoppy CDA I've had besides Barley Brown's Turmoil, that's quite a compliment, and really surprising given the relatively low ABV. Talked to the brewer and he's going to make some significant changes to the next batch re no Zeus hops available. I thought this was a really nice finely crafted beer. Recommended.
