Pouring a black cherry color with dark maroon. Tanned mocha head...dissipates quick. Slow-running legs. Whiffs of candied ginger, orange peel, sticky molasses, charred chocolate. Vinous, vanilla-tannin laden shows off wood barrel character. Picking up more notes of bourbon to the end effect of apple or pear brandy. The RIS component of the mix tends to dominate flavorwise. Meanwhile, the sweetness of the glutenwine and frutiness of quad contrast the graininess of the rye barrel nicely, and lend predominantly to a sticky feel and lighter than expected sensation bodywise. Thus, flavor tends to the RIS with its licorice, raisiny, chocolate, and English toffee flavors dominating. I can imagine a chocolate dipped fruit here. Raisinettes, or more aptly a bourbon-chocolate bon bon with apricot filling.
