I had this on draught at the brewery. 8 oz. pour served in a tulip glass. It poured a dirty brown color, with milk-white head and lacing. It smells of bourbon, vanilla, red wine, and dark fruit. The taste largely follows the nose but there is a nice taste of port wine, along with bourbon, roasted malt, and a subtle caramel. The tastes blend very well. There is also a noticeable boozy flavor. This ale is medium-bodied and pleasantly carbonated. You can really feel its 13.7% ABV. Overall, this is a well-crafted Old Ale that has depth despite its high ABV. This is not a beer you can drink a lot of but it's mighty tasty and a perfect pour in the delightful atmosphere of Rushing Duck's taproom. This is what craft beer's all about!
