On draught at the brewery. Served in a tulip glass. It pours almost black with mahogany hues especially at the stem of the glass. It has a thin, creamy, khaki-colored cap of and a sheen of creamy, lacing. A fragrant nose featuring roasted malt, dark milk chocolate, both freshly-brewed and burnt coffee, vanilla/lactose, nuts, tobacco smoke, and earthy char. The taste largely follows the nose and opens with rich fudge followed by coffee, , lactose, nuts. and tobacco. There are also dark fruit notes that really add to the flavor. It finishes with sweetness but the after taste is fairly bitter. Overall, it's a great balance between sweetness and bitter char. For a Foreign/Export Stout it's nicely creamy and viscous with moderate carbonation, and it drinks below its 12.5% ABV. Overall, the whole of this Stout is greater than the sum of its parts. It's wonderful drinking.
