On draught at the brewery. It pours almost black with dark walnut hues and a half finger of creamy, khaki-colored head and a generous sheen of lacing. The nose features freshly-brewed coffee, roasted malt, chocolate, vanilla, nuts, and just a whiff of bourbon. The taste is sublime! It opens with fresh coffee and milk chocolate in equal measure, with a nice earthy, nutty char base. There are notes of sweet lactose/vanilla and subtle but noticeable bourbon. It finishes with a dose of hoppy bitterness. The feel is smooth and thick with moderate carbonation and a potent 9.3% ABV. Overall, this is a delightful blend of a Milk Porter and a barrel-aged Stout. The flavors are distinct and bold and the barrel doesn't overwhelm. Rushing Duck excels at beers like this.
