This is a different beer from the 2017 iteration of the same name, which was a 4.7% APA. This beer is a 6.9% American IPA. I had it on draught at the brewery - a pint pour served in a tulip glass. It pours a cloudy, honey-tangerine color with one finger of creamy, bright white head and lacing. The nose was rather subdued: mostly lemon peel, grapefruit, light vanilla and pine, and the unmistakable smell of Mosaic hops. The taste opens with tart lemon and grapefruit rind with pine needles and just a hint of lactose/vanilla. As expected, the Mosaic hops are flavorful but not overly bitter. It's a tart, dry, crisp ale with pleasant carbonation and easy to drink with an ABV of 6.9% Overall, I have to say that I was a little underwhelmed given how good some of the RDR&D single-hopped IPAs have been. I'm a big fan of Mosaic hops and while this offering is certainly tasty it didn't "pop" like some of the others. Maybe I expect too much given my high regard for Rushing Duck. It paired nicely with a brat and sauerkraut on a pretzel roll.
