16 oz. pour on draught at the brewery. It pours jet black with a creamy, ecru-colored cap that dissipated quickly leaving a thick, creamy film of lacing. It's a classic stout pour. On the nose there is roasted malt, burnt coffee, peat, and char. This is a very dry and roasty stout with burnt coffee grounds, bakers chocolate, and cigar ash. The chocolate becomes more apparent as the glass warms but it's basically a dry, bitter stout. The feel is fairly thick and creamy with moderate carbonation. The 6.4% ABV poses no impediment to drinking. Overall, this is a no nonsense American Stout without any popular adjuncts. It's easy and pleasurable to drink. I doubt it will be canned but I wish it were.
