This Stout is a variant of Rushing Duck's well known Chained to the Dead. I had it on draught at the brewery. It is a dark mahogany/walnut color with a small, creamy, khaki-colored head that dissipated quickly, leaving a thin ring and a thick sheen of lacing inside the glass. The smell is fragrant and features freshly-brewed coffee, tobacco smoke, sweet chocolate, and black cherry. The taste follows with acidic coffee, lactose, cocoa, earthy char, cigar, and a strong dose of black cherry. The flavors and big and bold but blend nicely. This Stout has a creamy mouth feel with moderate carbonation, and the 11.2% ABV is very well masked. Overall, this is a very tasty and enjoyable Milk Stout and a creditable variant of Chained to the Dead.
