Beanhead takes the base beer of a robust porter and pairs is with a fantastic coffee flavor that comes from a Guatemalan bean roasted by Java Love Coffee Roasting Co. in Kauneonga Lake, NY. Beanhead is completely black in color with an impressive tan head. It has a taste of intense coffee with overtones of bittersweet cocoa and caramel malt balanced with a slight earthy bitterness. While it may look filling, Beanhead is actually medium bodied and lacks the cloying sweetness that makes so many other stouts and porters seem so “heavy.”

Pours a dark brown color with a minimal head that disappears quickly. Aroma of black coffee and roasted malts. Taste is black coffee and sweet vanilla. Smooth and creamy.

From Beer Drop, no dating.
It pours black but not pitch black. I see reddish highlights. Head of foam is a finger, good retention, good lacing.
The smell is coffee, roasted malt, vanilla, dark chocolate, hint of smoke.
The taste is big coffee, roasted malt, dark chocolate, hints of smoke, bitter overall.
Medium bodied, good carbonation.
Very good.

Taste of dark chocolate and coffee. Coffee is the star of this show.
A little thin for mouthfeel.
Overall, a nice porter.

Cola brown color where light passes along the edge of the glass. Minor head that settles quickly to rim bubbles. No lace left on the glass at all.
Raw, fresh ground coffee comes through on the initial whiff. Behind this, I pick up some drier caramel and pumpernickel bread.
The brew starts off like dark, Baker's chocolate, but the black coffee dominates by the time of the swallow. Very thin body for a Porter. This is enhanced by a higher carbonation level. The beer's dryness results in a shorter aftertaste where the dark chocolate returns at the very end.

Two fingers worth of audibly fizzy medium khaki colored froth... Solid retention... Color is a flat jet black... Nose is of and roasted malts in equal proportions... Makes for a really pleasant aroma... Palate if primarily roasted malt with just some faint coffee notes... Perhaps the slightest touch of vanilla as well... Feel is a bit underwhelming... On the lighter side of medium bodied... A bit thin and a bit flat... Decent and easy drinking but leaves a little bit to be desired... a few minor tweaks would go a long way...

No apparent canning date, but just arrived, so guessing it's relatively fresh.
Dirty-oil-brown, with 1.5 fingers of tan head, that leaves a thin ring, and a little surface sheeting.
Smells of black coffee, cocoa, a bit of earthy/woody char, slight biscuity malt, and a hint of roasted nuts.
I.e., the usual coffee porter aromas, nicely-balanced and inviting.
Taste is coffee, woody char, and slight toasted nuts. Light bitterness.
Feel is light , with light, very fine carbonation . Slight drying sensation after finish. A little thin, but not a deal-breaker.
Overall, a nice coffee porter. I'd like a little more body &/or carbonation, but that's a minor point. Still enjoyable, and easy-drinking.
I'm going to put some hot pepper in the next one, as this seems as if it would combine well with that .

On tap at Yard House in Nyack NY. First impression is I like it. Now for the details. I want my next car to be this color. Black and shiny and yet not pure black. Head has lasted for a while and is now a beautiful caramel cream color. OK, so what about the taste. Certainly coffee but not overwhelmingly so and certainly not leftover coffee grinds as one reviewer said. Overall a rather pleasant glass of beer. The nitro does give it a certain smoothness though I agree it is still a bit thin. Well worth a try if it's available.

I had this on draught at the brewery. Pint pour in a tulip glass. It pours a dark brown with cola hues, and a foamy, ecru-colored head and lacing. It smells of roasted malt, coffee, and a slight smokiness. It has a nice coffee taste, not as burnt as many porters, with a hint of chocolate. It also has a bit of smoke. It is fairly light in body with moderate carbonation. It's really easy to drink with a manageable ABV of 5.7% Overall, it is a well-made coffee porter. It's not at the level of Victory at Sea but still very good.
