Poured from 16 oz. can into pint glass. It pours a cola-brown color with one finger of ecru-colored head and lacing with nice retention. It smells of roasted malt, peat, cranberry, and a whiff of orange peel. The taste features the cranberry and sweet malt with just a hint of orange and a subtle taste of caramel. There is no hop presence to speak of and I didn't taste the peat or smoke I'd expect in a Scotch Ale. In fact, it's rather sweet. This ale is medium-bodied and pleasantly carbonated. At 7% ABV it is extremely easy to drink. Overall, this is a tasty ale. It's light enough for casual drinking but it has some substance to it.

This was a very different take on a Scottish Ale. It was very fruity along with the malty sweetness. It was actually quite delicious and hid the higher ABV quite well.
