Once again, this was yet another beer that I traded for a while ago and took ages to get around to. I'm not terribly crazy about Bolero Snort's offerings but this was a decent example of an American Porter that was just a bit too vanilla-forward. These are smoother than their British counterparts and for a summer day like this, it wasn't hard to dislike a beer such as this; even if it was a bit too sweet!
The pour to this was what I expected - a chocolate hue with a tan head full of big bubbles. No lacing was left behind as the liquid was thin and on par for a beer of this style. Tons of vanilla in the nose along with cinnamon, cocoa powder, cake batter, and brown sugar as the taste contained all of those as well. The taste felt like a fall dessert or a drink from Starbucks that had too much powder sprinkled onto it after it was made. A bit of this for a dessert would have been fine but a whole can took a while to finish off, even with a moderately roasted malt presence and slick finish like espresso...
Not a lot of booze here but what was discernible complemented the liquid nicely and wasn't felt on the palate. Sure, it warmed me up a bit but it didn't go with the sugary sweetness of this beer at all. This was fine after the amount of time I let it age for but it wouldn't be the first American Porter that I'd reach for, either...

This one was very tasty. Fairly light and easy drinking. Great blend of cinnamon, vanilla, semi sweet chocolate, and maybe slight coffee. None of the flavors are overpowering. Really enjoyable. yb
