DATE: January 8, 2022... OCCASION: sitting by a fire, the first snow of the new year settled, and appreciating a beer meant for the season just passed... pours a thick orange cream teeming with bubbles that build a clumpy, cottage-cheese evoking head that craters all around... banana, coconut, pineapple, and lactic acid... immediately causes salivation, if not a fear of the tart... heavy candied sugars as well, suggesting I should pucker up... immediate burn at the throat--not from the ABV, but from my own sensitivity--parallels the impact at the front end, where the teeth are rattled by enough hops to leave an impression... vivacious and animated, I continue to experience it long after the last sip... juicy, thick and sizable beyond its 6.1 ABV... disclaimer: I never liked banana... though its hints can be found in a weizen, it isn't this abrupt, which makes me not fully appreciate this beer's profile. Then again, the pineapple is huge, the coconut is pushing forward, and the strawberry--under the aroma's radar--is accountable here as well, making this quite a cornucopia. The lactose posits a smoothie's appeal--I would drink this for breakfast if it held enough health benefits! Overall, BS has put out a ton of sours and smoothies lately, and this label made me try this, iconic and funny as it is, even if the selection of fruits aren't all on my to-eat list.
