Pours almost black with a thick light brown head that dissipates relatively quickly.
Aroma is predominantly brown sugar, with hints of cinnamon and coffee. The aroma is enticing and invites you in to take a sip.
The taste is the roast malts of the porter accented with cinnamon and a mild sweetness balanced by mild bitterness. There's a hint of dark chocolate and coffee on the finish. This is not nearly as sweet as I expected from the aroma. It actually finishes dry, reminiscent of a dark lager.
Mouthfeel is a little light for a porter, again reminding me of a dark lager.
Overall, this is a pretty good sweet potato porter. It smells like a sugar bomb, but tastes and drinks like a cross between a porter and a dark lager. I love the way it smells, but I wish more of the brown sugar notes from the aroma were present in how it tastes.
