America's early micro-brewing roots came from the classic British styles. And Fifty West brewers honor those roots with an authentic tasting milk stout with a roasty, toasty attitude but with the creamy sweetness to pull the char within perfect balance.

The darkest shade of brown before turning black layers into the glass with an opaque onyx-like sheen. A creamy taupe lather sets atop as its roasty coffee-like aromas spring to life. Cold press coffee, roasted nuts, cocoa and burnt caramel rounds out the scent while the taste is creamy, caramelly, roasty and bold with dark chocolate.

Full saturation of malt seeps onto the tastebuds and its rich, bold-roasted coffee, bittersweet chocolate, roasted walnuts, light smoke and char offer a robust and savory taste. Burnt toast and seared sweetness is softened with remnants of caramel, whipping cream, vanilla and light licorice-like spice in tow.

Bitter with charred woods and coffee, the hop character seems of that of coffee bean with light grass and shaven wood held deep within. Its full, but drinkable textures give the session a rich early palate while trending semi-sweet and with a light plaster-like mineral snap.

thoroughly enjoyed from the growler via Jungle Jim's in a snifter. This nice milk stout pours a deep rich blackish brown with slight light coming through, as well as a nice head of brown foam that settles to a thick ring, thin layer, and nice lacing. Nose of sweet chocolate, subtle cream, and deeply roasted malts. Flavors exceed the nose with roasted malts and chocolate on all sides, sweet cream hits middle of the taste mixed with a roasted nut quality, and finishing with roasted malts and light char on the back. Excellent mouth feel, medium to full, with light carbonation that makes for a slick and enjoyable stout. Very nice. Another great brew from a great local brewery.
