This Imperial Stout was brewed with copious amounts of flaked barley to impart a chewy mouthfeel and underlying sweetness. Rich notes of baker’s chocolate, roasted coffee, maple sap and tobacco blend deftly with balanced barrel character to round out the finish. The only thing more stout than this liquid was Remus himself.

A: The beer is jet black in color. It poured with a short dark tan head that quickly died down and also lightened up, leaving a thin layer of light tan bubbles covering the surface and a collar of medium-sized bubbles around the edge of the glass.
S: Light to moderate aromas of tobacco are present in the nose along with notes of bourbon and chocolate with hints of maple syrup.
T: The taste follows the smell but has stronger flavors of chocolate and less in the way of tobacco.
M: It feels full-bodied on the palate and has a good amount of warming from the bourbon on the finish.
O: I found the taste of this beer to be quite complex and the flavors of tobacco were rather intriguing. The alcohol was a bit noticeable in the taste but didn't really hinder the drinkability of the beer.

From the 12 oz bottle via the brewery in a snifter. This beefy
beast pours a rich coal black with a nice head of brown foam that
settles to a thick ring, thin clumping pool, and sports some light lacing.
Nose of bourbon, char, smoke, bakers cocoa, woodsy oak, faint coffee
and astringent booze. Flavors surpass the nose with a rich bourbon
laced over dark chocolate fudge, vanilla, rich coffee verging on espresso,
and deep char and smoke with touches of dark fruit. Very nice mouth feel;
full rich body, warming, smooth, coating, light carbonation that is lightly
effervescent, and a rich bourbon laced medium dry roast and char laden finish.
Overall......wow. Excellent!
Cheers

12 oz bottle from Tavour. Pours out like an oil slick, black and flat. Roast malts, smoky. Taste is bitter, ashy, dry. Minor sweetness and a lot of heat. Big ABV, but not a lot of bourbon barrel.

Part of a flight at release day; of the three beers released in bottles, this was my favorite, a solid, tasty BBA Stout. However, at $12 for 12 oz bottles, it's priced too highly and I stuck with my taster.

A: Pitch black, nice dark tan/brown head settles quickly into a small ring that leaves some decent lacing. Beautiful for being almost 12%.
S: Wonderful mix of oak, chocolate, maple syrup, and bourbon. Some alcohol creeps in as well.
T: Follows the smell, with the addition of some nice roasted malt, and a really nice chocolate character that is more vibrant than the nose. Alcohol is noticeable, but does not detract from the character at all, IMO.
F: Thick, syrupy, oily, coating. Finishes with a long, oaky bourbon that lingers long after the heat dissipates. Fantastic.
O: Super good beer. Thank you Jay and Lori for sharing this one :)
