Enjoyed at the brew pub and in a growler via Fifty West in a snifter.

This fine imperial porter (8 percent abv by the way) pours a fantastic
coal black with brown highlights and an excellent head of light brown foam
that subsides to a thick ring, thing layer, and features excellent lacing. Nose of
dark cocoa, light char, espresso, and subtle maple notes. Flavors follow the nose
with an espresso backbone, subtle char to the middle mingling with cocoa, and
a lightly appearing maple note that is far from overpowering. Excellent mouth feel;
medium touching lightly on high carbonation, coating bitter malt finish, and full.
Overall an excellent brew more in the Baltic sense but still worthy.

This brew is back on the menu and is not retired, although they did not garnish with
a maple doughnut when I had it there, still an excellent imperial porter which is
Paychecks porter on roids.

Cheers

overall a very nice beer to smell. Smell of coffee with malt background then fades to a strong black bitter coffee taste

This "Imperial Porter" served in snifter at brewpub. Garnished with half a Holtman's Donut - very nice touch and really adds to the "experience" of drinking this beer. Donut/cakey flavor up front very briefly followed by lots of espresso and dark chocolate. A little thin in mouthfeel. Overall a nice beer given it runs the risk of being a bit "gimmicky". 50W continues to do dark beers very well.
