From the growler via the brewery in a snifter. This substantial brew pours a nice
deep mahogany with a moderate head of off white foam that subsides to a thick ring,
thin layer, and light lacing. Nose of resinous pine and citrus laden hops with lightly
toasted dark malts. Flavors exceed the nose with resinous and sticky piney hops
and rich caramel malts falling into the middle of the taste with orange zest and light
pineapple notes fading back into a pine note with nice sticky malt sweetness. Very
nice mouth feel, smooth, sticky, medium heft, and warming on the rear. Overall
an excellent imperial red ale.
