From the growler via the brewery in a snifter. This most impressive
imperial stout pours a rugged coal black with a beautiful head of light
brown foam that settles to a thick ring, thin layer, and shows some very
nice sudsy lacing. Nose of dark chocolate, subtle vanilla, bourbon, light
oak, and subtle char laden malts. Flavors nail it out of the park with rich
layers of heavy coffee and smooth balanced bourbon drizzled with vanilla
and char touch marshmallow. Subtle flavors of tobacco and earthy malts
show with warmth as well as woodsy oaken notes. Exceptional mouth feel;
warming, lightly slick, moderately coating, full body, light carbonation, and a
warming lightly dry finish.
On par with some of the best Jackie O's brews I have had to date and one worthy
of bottling in a 750 to lay down for a period of time.
This fine ale MUST be brewed again and entered into contests. It is THAT GOOD.
Balanced and approachable for such a beast this one shines the way for a great finishing
to a great evening.
Cheers
