16 oz can that pours a cloudy orange. I didn't realize this was a limited (one time?) offering. This is the standard Coast to Coast IPA with the addition of pluots, which of course are a cross between pelicans and otters. It was brewed for and/or to celebrate Fifty Fest. In fact, the label on my can might have gained me free entry if it had a metallic silver adhesive back and if I was in possession of a time machine as said festival was two weeks ago.
First taste is a tangy, almost sour, and not necessarily to my liking. Subsequent sips mellowed out or perhaps my tongue just got used to it. I was really starting to dig it just as the can was emptied. The coastal hop bitterness mixed well with the mouthfeel of the otter.
Ah...I'm now told a pluot is actually a cross between a plum and an apricot. I'm at once embarrassed but also excited that the whole pelican/otter beer is still unexplored territory. What master brewer will take that giant leap for mankind?
