i wanted just a little more from this one, at least as far as the complexity is concerned, but its a tasty beer, fancy feeling, and with a ton of bourbon barrel on it, far better than its one rating here, this must have improved from year to year. deep copper to brown in color, fast rising and even faster settling head, some tan lace is all thats left on top, looks sort of root beer floaty. the aroma is good, belgian yeast, dark candy sugar, citrus peel, and whiskey, lots of whiskey. whole vanilla bean to it, maple, molasses, and a lot of fancy dark abbey type malt, dried dates and cherries and raisins and rum. its sweet and its quite alcoholic, a little sharp and estery from the yeast, but it relaxes as it warms which is nice. brown sugar and a cola note, more vanilla, wet oak, caramelized grain sugars, and toffee as well. dried apple too, its very autumnal to me. maybe a little thin, and maybe overrun by the barrel a bit, but this is solid stuff, nice for cold weather and those who like as much whiskey as beer in their glass...

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
