On tap at the brewery which says "this is an unfiltered wheat beer in authentic German style. The German wheat beer yeast strain provides most of the flavor and aroma, producing pronounced banana and clove notes, while the wheat malt is sharp and bready."
Pours a hazy yellow with a durable and well-proportioned white head. As described above with a near medium body and a nice blend of smoothness and mild crispness. The aroma is dominated by notes of banana and clove, with some additional spiciness: about as expected. But ...
T: Much less banana and clove than expected, especially given the nose. The bready wheat flavors are nicely mixed with the yeast products rather than masked by them.
O: A crisp and wheat refreshing wheat beer that stands out for keeping the expected banana/clove element in the aroma, but having it much subdued in the flavor, allowing the bread and wheat flavors to shine through. (Perhaps a 5 for style, but I am not a big fan of this style).
