I normally don't like the beers at Beer Works...at least speaking for the Boston locations. Tried the Framingham location last night and found that the soapy-like taste i get from the beers at the fenway location is not existent here. The beers were hit or miss, but the easy highlight was is Nobscot IPA. Had I not known better I'd say it was made in Vermont, or by Tree House.
Looked bright and unfiltered...like a brighter version of Heady Topper. Beautiful white head.
Smelled beautiful. Lots of soft citrusy notes (i.e. melon) and a little grassiness.
Tasted as good as it smelled. Citrusy notes are soft, not acidic or bitter. Reminds me of the hop profiles you get in some of the Hill farmstead pale ales. Malt was light, a cross between doughy and cracker like. I do wish the flavor lasted a little longer, though.
Mouthfeel was stellar, very soft (the theme here), a touch yeasty.
Overall, great. This is a sleeper A+ IPA hiding in our backyards from an unlikely brewery. I just bought a house in Framingham so I'll be getting growlers of this often even though Jack's Abby is in town. Must try.
