Reasonable head that settles to rim bubbles. Leaves a moderate number of spots for lace. Dark amber color and clear.
Strong smokiness in the nose. This was attributed to the rye content, but for me it smells more like a Rauschbier.
Very dry taste and mouthfeel as to be expected. I still pick up smoke but that may be the smell coming through. Despite the dryness, I get a bit of fresh berry up front. Darker malt finish and aftertaste. Neutral body with an elevated carbonation. Generally I'm not a fan of a fully malty beer, but I think the complexity of this one makes it worthy to seek out.
