Slightly cloudy golden beer with a thin white head, minimal lacing. Nose offers some spice, malt, and yeast, with an outlying fruityness. Has a crisp mouthfeel with decent cabronation, pretty stariaghtforward brew. Malt and hops=beer. This=beer. Nothing special about it, but nothing wrong with it either.

Gold-orange colored murk with a small wisp of foam. Floral and fruity nose--peaches, maybe some banana too. Taste is smooth and juicy oranges with a lemon peel finish. Quite citric. There is some bubbly chalkiness in the mouthfeel but it isnt a big negative. Its also pretty subtle. Pretty nice drinkability for this style. It also went real well with a variety of food. It seemed like it was better than last years version. Unfortunately, I dont have a review of that one to compare it with.

Sampled this on-tap at the American Beer Festival in June (yeah, yeah, I'm still lazy about entering my notes)...

Pours with a hazy yellow body and a thin wispy head, looking like your typical pale ale. The aroma however, is surprisingly floral, with a real depth of hops, and a very, very slight bit of malt creeping in. This almost smells like an IPA, but not as harsh. Taste is similar to the aroma in that it is very, very hoppy, but the hops have a more pleasant and rounded flavor than usual, must be the Czech hops the guy pouring was talking about, since I feel this would taste like cough syrup if you used some of the more common hops for this. However, the heavy hops works here, although it does give a bit of dryness to the mouthfeel. Theres also a bit of fruitiness there, with a tart aftertaste. I have to say, this works for me, and was rather pleasant.

On tap at the Fenway location, served in a tulip glass. Hazed golden color with a healthy white lace. Phenolic aroma and flavor, fruity with a faint tropical mix. A bit warm and ester from the alcohol. Nice sharpness from the hops and phenols to balance out the maltiness.

This is one of my favorite brews from Beer Works and I am ecstatic that it is back.

Had on tap at the fenway location. The bartender told me this was a Belgian style blonde or triple. She wasn’t quite sure. It’s labeled as an APA here, although I notice other reviews state that it was a Belgian when they tried it so maybe they switched the style over the years. Anyway……

It poured a hazy yellow body with a white head. Couldn’t make out much nose in the bar atmosphere.

The taste surprised me at first. Rather hoppy and somewhat bitter. Very very dry. Some wheat, yeast, apricots, phenols, and an overwhelming tart dryness. Some soft fruit tones and subtle spice. It ends with a quick dry taste.

A weird but yummy beer. Classic Belgian blonde with a huge dry character. I don’t know if I’ve emphasized that enough. Very very very dry, almost chalky sort of dryness. Bizarre, but I’d try this beer again

Dubbed as a Belgian Style pale on the bier menu at BBW Fenway. Enjoyed on tap at the BA gathering!

This Devil had a slightly dull, golden color, with a fair amount of cloudiness. The head was white, fine and thin. It left just a slight accumulation of suds around the rim, with minimal lacing.
Nose, though not overly robust, exhibited some mildly fruity notes as well as a hint of a spicy, yeasty character.
The body was fine, in the medium range, and a small amount of carbonation allowed for a smooth passage over the tongue.
The taste initially had a smidge of a bready maltiness. It was somewhat crisp, with a dryish finish, and the flavor towards the end had some Saaz sharpness, with a little spicy bite and a mild tartness.
A pretty good offering, as I had a second round a bit later. And, let it warm, as it was poured much to cold, inhibiting a lot of aroma and flavor from being on true display. Prosit!!

Had this the other day with Johnny P. Great stuff. A nice lightweight beer, but full of body and kicks in with a twangy hop snap.

A great session beer, or intro into better beer, beer.
